A Knight in Key West Event Raises Record Funds at Sixth Annual Event

The Robinson High School Foundation’s sixth annual benefit, A Knight in Key West, was held at the Westshore Yacht Club on October 8.

This year’s sold-out event drew a crowd of more than 300 guests for dinner, entertainment, and silent and live auctions. Guests included parents, alumni, school board members, elected officials and other community leaders. Local television and radio personalities Debra Schrils and Brian Fasulo served as emcees for the live auction, which included bidding for an opportunity to go behind the scenes for a VIP tour at Lowry Park Zoo, a rare opportunity for two Robinson High School culinary students to experience the real life kitchen at Mise en Place through a job shadow day, and luxury suites for Lightning and Rays games. The evening also included remarks from Robinson High School Principal Robert Bhoolai and Foundation President Kim French.

The Robinson High School Foundation estimates that the benefit, along with family and community partnerships, raised approximately $90,000 this year, more than ever before. Over its history, the Robinson High School Foundation has invested more than $340,000 in the RHS school community.

“The funds we raised will go directly to our school to improve our campus and classrooms, enhance Robinson academic and extracurricular programs, and provide faculty and staff grants,” said Benefit Chair James Baker. “We are so thankful for everyone who came together to generously support our amazing high school.”

Robinson High School led the county in 2016 with fifteen National Merit Finalists. The Robinson High School IB Program's IB Diploma Rate has been over 90% each of the last three years, and the Robinson IB Class of 2015 was the only program statewide to achieve a 100% IB Diploma Rate.
